Event synopsis:

Gas is widely considered to be essential for security of supply as we transition to a net zero, sustainable energy system. As exploration and production companies look to decarbonise and diversify their portfolios to include more sustainable gas, various factors remain a significant risk for investment. Future direction and pace of change remain uncertain as energy policy evolves and as new technologies focused on producing cleaner hydrogen gas and on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) are being developed to advance the energy transition. The industry is in a state of flux; what does all of this mean for the future of gas, and for the careers of today’s young energy professionals? What opportunities can be pursued and what challenges need to be overcome for the future of gas to be any different from today in the coming decades, and for us to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions?
